Noise Aversion

I have developed an aversion to noise. Stupid noise. Like the irritating sound coming from my neighbors leaf blower. It isn't even fall and I am being subjected to the sound of this machine. This droning, teeth clenching, ear ringing sound.

But I digress. There is more to the story than that.

Boredom coupled with hating annoying sounds perhaps?

First there is the quandary of the neighbor that is using the annoying noise making machine. Nicest guy. Honestly. He and his wife are good neighbors. They have two dogs that I am slightly afraid of and that bark a lot but then my dogs bark too. Apparently nicest guy is unemployed and has decided to start his own yard maintenance business with a buddy. I can not tell you how many such businesses there are in this county. They are literally a dime a dozen. None the less I give him credit for trying to get some cash flow going.

Did I mention that the business has various "plans" based on what the home owner can afford? The one that he told me about was for $10 a month. Ten dollars a month for everything. Lawn mowing, weed trimming, bush trimming etc, etc. I kind of scratched my head about this and wondered how on earth they could make any money at $10/yard after the expense of gasoline and paying themselves.

And did I mention that he lives directly across the street from me? In a very well maintained house with two vehicles parked on the grass and one in the driveway and they don't use the backyard at all because of the barking dogs that slightly scare me.

So if I'm not really cool with how your yard looks, and you're only going to charge me $10 to spend two hours maintaining my yard, why would I hire you to listen to that dreadful droning, gas guzzling weed eater followed up by the leaf blower that you use to blow the mowed grass.

I guess because it's a good deal. But I don't think you're going to be in business that long.
